Cherry Blossoms, spring flowers

I can look out my window and see cherry blossoms blooming.  I love the first flowers of spring.  These beautiful flowers don't last very long though and then they are gone for another year.

This is a watercolor portrait of three Keeshonds.  Really two Keeshonds and one part Keeshond. Wolfie on the left is only part Keeshond.  They are pretty cute with all their fluffy fur.  I'm going to mat and frame this and send it off to it's owner.

Teacup Wine Glass

I am super excited about this cute teacup wine glass.  It's made from a wine glass stem and a vintage teacup, a feminine take on the classic wine glass.  My husband and I made the one you see in the picture.  We also made a few others to sell in my etsy store.  The process was not as easy as we had anticipated.  A few wine glasses landed in the garbage can before we figured out the process.  We used a glass cutter to score the bottom of the glass.  Then very carefully snapped the stem off.  After a bit of sanding we were ready to glue it to the bottom of the teacup.  I love the way it turned as well as the others.  A clever way to use vintage teacups for a shabby chic look don't you think?

Upcycled teacup candelabra

I like to go to thrift stores and find things that I can "artfully upcycle".  I found this silver color candelabra.  I painted the candelabra pink and added some vintage teacups for a shabby chic look.  Perfect for that person who loves roses for a feminine addition to the home decor.   This would look awesome with some tea light candles as a centerpiece, or to hold some flower blossoms.  Maybe even as a serving piece for tea bags, sugar cubes and such.

Look for this at NEWaged on etsy where you'll find artfully upcycled treasures for your home.

Fun wall letters

I thought I would make some fun wall letters for my granddaughter.  I bought the letters from the store and had to fix them a bit on the jigsaw.  The letter styles didn't match and the thickness of the letters didn't match either. After trying to fix them, I decided that it would have been better to just buy the wood and cut them out myself.  The original letters were made in China, if that says anything.

I thought I would be saving a step by buying them already cut out.  But no, that wasn't the case.  If I decide to make anymore painted letters, I will buy some wood and start from scratch.

They wound up turning out pretty cute anyway!

Bluebird of Happiness

I decided to paint this little bluebird because of it's symbolism of happiness.  Oh, and he's pretty cute too.

According to Wikipedia, the mythology of the bluebird of happiness has deep roots that go back thousands of years. Indigenous cultures across the globe hold similar myths and beliefs about the bluebird. It is a widely accepted symbol of cheerfulness, happiness, prosperity, hearth and home, good health, new births, the renewal of springtime, etc. Virtually any positive sentiments may be attached to the bluebird.
